Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's been so nice to be off of work for 5 days. It was just the break we both needed. I'm already looking forward to having almost 2 weeks off in a month for Christmas!

On Wednesday I was up and out early to get my hair cut and colored. I was so excited because I hadn't gotten it done since August right before my IVF retrieval and transfer. My doctor wanted me to wait until I was at least 14 weeks pregnant before dying my hair again. I've been running around with ridiculous amounts of grey hair so I was very happy to get it done. After the salon Michael and I worked on Thanksgiving baking. Michael worked on his apple pie and I worked on cake bites.

The best part of Wednesday was our ultrasound appointment to find out what our little tater tot was. We were so excited to find out we have a little boy on the way!

After our appointment we headed to Rich and Tif's to have some dinner and hangout. It was also Rich's birthday so Tif had made him a cake for dessert. It was really yummy but I think Jacob enjoyed it the most!

On Thursday, I had to get up early to finish my cake bites. We were using them as our way of revealing that we had a little boy on the way to our families. I'm doing an entire post on revealing the gender tomorrow so you'll see how it all went down. After I finished the cake bites, I got showered and ready for Turkey day. We were heading over to Tif's parents first. Michael was playing in their annual family poker tournament. I hung out in the kitchen with Tif, her mom and Jacob and Makayla. Jacob was busy playing around with his uncle Ray.

Michael was the first one out at poker so we left around 12:30 to head to my parents house for turkey dinner. After revealing there was a little boy on the way, we just hung out and helped my Mom get things ready for dinner.

After a delicious dinner we packed everything up and headed to Michael's parents for dessert and Christmas crafts. It's a Dworianyn tradition that everyone makes a Christmas craft. It's a lot of fun. It was also Jacob's first year so we were excited to see how he would do. He mostly wanted to eat the paints so Tif had to finish his craft, HA! Michael and I both painted ornaments for our craft this year.

After crafting was over, it was time for dessert. We did our cake bite reveal with Michael's family like we did with mine. Jacob loved the cake bites, he ate 3 of them!

After dessert Jacob was on a sugar high and we all had fun watching him run around and playing with him.

We headed home around 9 to relax for a while and Michael took a nap before we headed out at midnight to do some Black Friday shopping. Tif came with us and Michael drove her and I around to the stores we wanted to go to so we didn't have to worry about parking or standing out in the cold. We hit up Old Navy first and we didn't think there was anyway we'd get in the store the first round since there were about 200 people lined up outside. But we got in and ran around, grabbed what we needed and I got in line. We were in and out in about 25 minutes which I thought was pretty quick.

We also hit up Target and Toy's R Us. We heard all kinds of horror stories of things going on around the country but everywhere we went it wasn't too bad. There was a crazy fight at our Walmart, but luckily we weren't going there. It was fun, I hadn't gone Black Friday shopping in a few years. I'm now officially done with Christmas shopping and most of it is wrapped already too! I'm so happy to be done. It's always my goal to be done on Thanksgiving so we can enjoy December without worrying about shopping for gifts.

On Friday morning we got up pretty early and I headed to Carter's to pick up some clothes for our little boy on the way! I went a little nuts and bought too much but that's okay, I've been waiting 2 years to actually be able to shop for our baby! I got some really cute things at some great prices. It helps when the entire store is 60% off plus you have a 20% off coupon and an additional $30 in rewards to spend. Our little boy is set for next Fall and Winter!

The rest of the day on Friday we were pretty lazy. We went out to lunch with Rich and Tif, napped for a few hours since we were running on only 4 hours of sleep. We woke up around 6 and Rich texted Michael wondering if we wanted to come over for some pizza. So we woke ourselves up and headed over to their house for some dinner and to play with the kids of course! Tif started taking out her Christmas decorations and Jacob is obsessed with this snowman that's bigger than him. He kept hugging it and carrying it around the room. It was hilarious and so cute! I wish I had a better picture instead of my crappy phone picture.

On Saturday we were up and out early and headed to my parents. It's an after Thanksgiving tradition that we all go and help them set up their Christmas tree. We only had to do the ornaments since my parents had already set up the tree and added lights and garland. We watched National Lampoon's Christmas vacation and hung all of the ornaments on the tree. It's always so much fun to relieve all of the memories that hang from that tree.

It was Lily's first year here for the tradition. She was mesmerized by the lights. We all took turns holding her during the decorating.

The tree came out absolutely beautiful as always. They got a new tree this year and are really happy with it. It's so bright too since it has all LED lights on it now too. My Dad, Teddy and Michael set up my Dad's Disney train and the tree was officially complete!

After the decorating was done, we all sat down for lunch. My Mom made her own version of the "McRib" sandwich and homemade potato salad. It was delicious! After lunch we headed home to start doing our own Christmas decorating. We got our entire village up and got the tree up, shaped and garland added. We just have the ornaments left to do. I have a few other things to place around the house as well. I will have lots of decorating posts coming up as part of our "25 Days of Christmas" series starting next week.

Sunday means football day so this morning we got up and Michael made us a yummy pancake breakfast.

Then I worked on making Buffalo Chicken Bake and some veggie dip to bring over to Rich and Tif's for game day eats. I ran to Michael's to pick up some garland for one of my decorations and then we just relaxed for a while before heading over to Rich and Tif's to watch football. We watched all the games including the pathetic end to the Bear's game before heading home.

After we got home we worked on putting the ornaments on our tree. It looks so pretty. It's been such a great weekend, I'm sad it's over. But at least the next few weeks should go by fast. Christmas always seems to sneak up on you. We have so many fun things coming up for the holidays, I can't wait! I hope all of you had a great weekend and wonderful Thanksgiving!
