Ethan's World: 6 Months

6 months my little man, your half birthday! On one hand time is flying and on the other I feel like you've been here forever. Maybe its because we just can't imagine our lives without you. I think this has been my favorite month yet, even though I say that every month! You have the cutest and sweetest personality and are full of smiles. We can't go anywhere without people stopping to smile at you, it's just contagious! You have done so many new things this month, it felt like every day you were doing something new. You still have lots of nick names: peanut, little man, little giant, smiley pie, small fry, bubb bubb, and goofy goofs to name a few. You are sitting up so well. I think by next month I won't have to worry about you tipping at all. You are sitting in high chairs and carts now too, it's so nice to just be able to carry you in a store and plop you in a cart. There are perks to you being big and strong! You love playing with your toys or anything you can get your hands on. I love watching you problem solve. It's amazing to watch you figure something out, especially considering you've only lived outside my body for 26 weeks! We have to be careful everywhere we put you because you immediately lunge for whatever is within arms reach! Something is always in your mouth it seems and your finger is usually your favorite item to chew on. You woke up with your first tooth poking through the day after you turned 6 months. You are rolling all over the place. I put you on your play mat or on a blanket and you are immediately on the move. I think you will be crawling by Christmas. You are already trying to figure out how to use your legs to get up and propel your body forward. You are still very chatty and you are starting to make some sounds other than screams. I can't wait to hear a "Da Da or Ma Ma" come out of your mouth. I love thinking about what you will be doing next month and I can't wait to watch it all happen. We love you so much little man!

Weight:
You weigh 19 pounds 9 oz, the 85th percentile, still our big boy!

Height:
You are 30 inches long, our little giant, and still off the charts!

Clothing Size:
You are wearing 6 months and some 6-9 months clothes.

Diapers:
You are wearing Pampers size 3 and should be in that size for a while.

Feeding:
You eat your formula on a regular schedule of 5 times a day and 6 oz at each feeding, the same since you were 3 months old. We are officially on solids now too. You have tried many new foods this month. We started with oatmeal which you weren't such a fan of. Since then you've had apples, pears, mangos, bananas, peaches, butternut squash, sweet potatoes and green beans. So far your favorites have been pears, bananas, sweet potatoes and green beans. We are going to try some stage 2 foods and puffs in the next couple of weeks, so we'll see how you like those!

Hair/Eyes:
People still can't stop talking about your cute hair. You've had 4 hair cuts so far, it grows fast like mine. Your hair has really lightened up too and you are a blonde haired, blue-eyed boy just like Daddy. Everyone who sees you comments on your sparkling blue eyes!

Sleep:
You are sleeping so well, anywhere from 10 - 12 hours a night, it's been wonderful. You are a great napper, too, but I think we are officially down to 3 naps a day now and I think you will be down to 2 soon. You know how much more fun it is to be awake and play instead of sleep! Another new thing is I don't have to rock you to sleep. When you are tired I put you in your crib, give you your pacifier and you go right to sleep. You are also a certified stomach sleeper like your Mama. No matter how many times we put you on your back you always roll onto your stomach. You even sleep face down sometimes apparently because I walked into your nursery and saw this:

Fun Stuff You Did This Month:

Porkchop Love
You are absolutely enamored with Porkchop and he is equally in love with you. Wherever you are, Porkchop is close by. You pull and tug at his ears, fur and skin and he just stands there and takes it. He won't stop licking you and Daddy and I have to push him away sometimes he licks you so much. I'm so glad that you two are the best of friends and that Porkchop is a good big brother to you!

Pumpkin Picking
I have been looking forward to this time of year for so long. All of these first with you have been so fun. We had such a nice day at Goebbert's for your first trip to the pumpkin farm. You got to feed giraffes and we took lots of pictures, I can't wait till next year when you will be walking among the pumpkins!

Pumpkin Carving
We knew immediately what your pumpkin would be, it had to be Mickey of course! Daddy did a great job carving the Mickey face and adding the mini pumpkin ears. You kept a close watch in your high chair to make sure that pumpkin met your standards!

Halloween
This was the best Halloween that I can recall since I was a kid. We had so much fun dressing you up. I did a little photo shoot with you and Porkchop and then we went trick-or-treating over at Uncle Rich and Aunt Tiffany's house. You were the cutest little lion that we saw of course!

Sitting Up
You are sitting up so well and each week that goes by you get stronger and stronger. It's so fun to have you sitting up in highchairs and shopping carts now; you love being up and looking at everything!

Your first year month-by-month
