Ethan's World: 10 Months

10 months and double digits little man! You become more and more like a toddler each day! You are showing your personality and making your voice heard. There are days where you love to exercise your vocal cords by screaming and it is ear piercing! You also love to giggle and laugh. If someone laughs at you, you laugh right back, it is the cutest thing. You said, "Dada" this month and you made your Daddy smile all day long! He still smiles when you say it like it's the first time, it just melts his heart. You also started saying, "Ba," and "Ma," but you haven't said "Mama" fully so far. A couple other new things you are doing are shaking your head "No," and clapping. You can't clap on command yet, but when you are really excited about something, you start clapping and it is the cutest thing ever!

You are finally starting to crawl. It's not a traditional crawl just yet, but you can get wherever you want to go, even from one end of the room to the other. You just get there by a combination of crawling, army crawling, spinning and rolling! You still love to stand and you are pulling up on everything. I feel like one day you are just going to wake up and start walking. Only time will tell. Your doctor isn't concerned so I won't be either.

You are amazing to watch play these days. You have figured out all of your toys and it's incredible to see you in action. You know how to turn everything on and your hand/eye coordination is pretty impressive. Your favorite toy lately is your Fisher Price Topzy Tumblers Fun Park. You love all the lights, music and the sounds of the tumblers moving up and down the stairs. Just recently you figured out how to put the tumblers down the slide and you were so proud of yourself!

You are coming off another double ear infection and I just feel so bad that you have had to go through all of this ear pain in only your first year. We have an action plan to try and prevent it from happening in the future so we will see how that works the next time you get a cold.

Ethan, you have the sweetest, most joyful and fun loving personality coming out of you at all times. You are just so much fun to be with and give Daddy and I the greatest joy. We are constantly amazed by all of the new things you learn, and we love thinking about what you will be doing next month and we can't wait to watch it all happen!

Weight:
You weigh 23 pounds 3oz, the 88th percentile.

Height:
You are 32.25 inches long, our little giant!

Clothing Size:
You are still wearing 12 months and 12-18 and they are fitting you well.

Diapers:
You are wearing Pampers size 4.

Feeding:
You are transitioning more to solids. You still love your purees but we are trying to just do one pouch along with some solids at each meal. You have 1 packet with a yogurt at breakfast, 2 at lunch if you are at daycare or 1 and some solids for lunch at home and 1 plus some solids at dinner. You still love your yogurt melts but goldfish, graham crackers and blue berries are your new favorites. You have gotten so good at feeding yourself and you are a pro with your sippy cup. You are still drinking your formula as well but you have reduced your intake from 32 oz to somewhere between 16-20 oz depending on the day. Some of the real foods you've tried are: french toast, biscuits, pizza crust, broccoli, mashed potatoes, zucchini, white rice, macaroni and cheese, watermelon, red and green bell peppers, cheerios, black beans, yogurt, mushrooms, pancakes, blueberries, pizza, corn, turkey, crackers, ravioli, breakfast sausage, chicken and cheese .

Hair/Eyes:
Your hair is still golden blonde and grows extremely fast. We cut your hair about every 2 weeks to keep you looking sharp! Everyone who sees you still comments on your beautiful, sparkling blue eyes!

Sleep:
Sleep has been a little rocky lately. For the past few weeks you've been waking up once a night at least 3 nights a week. I'm not sure if it's your teeth, your ears, separation anxiety, or a growth spurt, but I am definitely hoping we get back to sleeping through the night consistently soon! Even though you might wake up at night you are sleeping about 12 hours at night. You are still doing great with taking 2 naps. You nap from 9-11 in the morning and 1-3:30 in the afternoon. You always wake up happy, smiling, giggling and ready to play. You poke your little head up when I walk into the room and always greet me with a smile.

Words:
I added this as a new category this month because you have a few words under your belt. You followed up your first word, "Boo" with "Dada" and you melted your Daddy's heart. You can say, "Ba," and "Ma" but haven't put 2 of them together yet. You are constantly babbling just like your Mama!

Fun Stuff You Did This Month:

First Valentine's Day
We are running out of first holidays very rapidly. We had so much fun with you on Valentine's Day! We woke up and had breakfast and then let you open up your Valentine's bucket of gifts. You had so much fun opening everything up, you were into it so much more than at Christmas time. I can't wait to watch you open your Easter basket in a couple of weeks!

Feeding Yourself
You are doing so well at feeding yourself. Not only are you doing great with the finger foods but now you can feed yourself a packet! You also have started holding your bottle which Mommy loves!

Alligator Cowboy
You had your first alligator ride! Uncle Jim was doing a show with all of his reptiles so we went down to see his show and for you to have your first meeting with Bubba! I've grown up with these animals and I think it will be fun for you too as you get older to meet and see all of his animals!

ER Visit
Not all firsts are good ones, and we found that out the hard way this month with your first visit to the emergency room. We had taken you literally 12 hours prior to the doctors to check your ears and they weren't infected. Fast forward those 12 hours and we had a very long night with you screaming in pain. After hitting a 103 degree fever it was off to the hospital. Luckily we had a fabulous doctor who had you calmed down in minutes with some numbing ear drops. After a 3 hour nap and some medicine you were smiling and happy again!

Your first year month-by-month
