Ethan's World: 16 Months

16 months! These months just keep rolling by, things need to slow down. These days it seems like every day you are doing something new. You are unbelievable to watch. Last month you were still getting your walking legs and now you're a total pro. You are almost running! It's so fun having you being able to walk now.

We have had so many fun adventures this Summer and this month was no different. We went to a couple splash pads since the weather finally got hot enough. You absolutely loved it. You were in all your glory running through the water and splashing.

One of the other themes this month is trains. You are officially obsessed and we have done several activities to fuel this obsession. We visited the Chicago Botanic Garden and they had a railroad garden that you just loved. You would have stayed there all day if we let you. We also went to a new restaurant where the food is delivered by train and you were mesmerized. We bought you your first Thomas train and I'm sure it won't be the last. I see a train-themed Christmas this year!

My favorite thing you started doing this month is giving hugs. And you don't just give a hug, you give a running towards us, squeeze us kind of hug. It is the sweetest thing ever and melts my heart.

Your teeth are still working on coming in. I think you have as many of 4 teeth working their way down right now. Some days you are drooling like you are 6 months old again! At your 15 month appointment you weighed in at 27.5 pounds and 35.5 inches tall. Everywhere we go people think you're 2 years old and the looks on their faces are pretty funny when I tell them your real age. You are our big boy but you are growing perfectly.

No official new words this month but you are still a chatty little boy and you seem like you are trying to repeat words we say constantly and they sound similar. You are understanding and comprehending really well though and it is awesome. You are starting to take directions which is very helpful. You are still sleeping great, we are so lucky. You sleep 12 hours almost to the minute every night. During the day you take about 4 -5 hours of naps. If we are outside a lot you always take longer naps from wearing yourself out!

You are still in the testing us phase. You've even had a couple tantrums where you bend over and put your head on the ground like you are pouting, it's pretty funny. You will also lay down on the ground and cry. We just ignore it and you stop pretty quickly.

Food has been better since we reduced your milk intake. Your favorite fruits are still strawberries, blueberries and bananas plus you are in love with pasta. Pasta with marinara sauce is one of your favorite things for dinner.
Every day with you Ethan is a blessing. You are the cutest, sweetest, most fun-loving little boy. I am so excited to take you on lots of new adventures this Fall. We have some really fun things planned. Watching you experience new things brings us such joy. We love you so much little man and we can't wait to see all the amazing things you will be up to next month!
