Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend, and our first taste of Fall. We went from 90 degree temps at the beginning of the week to 60's and 70's by Friday. Friday morning Ethan and I met up with my sister and Lily at the Morton Arboretum. We went for a hike first and it was the perfect morning for it. It was crisp and cool and it felt great.

The kids had lots of fun as usual and after lots of playing and lunch it was time to head home for naps. After an afternoon nap we headed to Michael's parents house to celebrate Michael's Dad's birthday. It was also Makayla's actual birthday. The kids played, we had some dinner and we sang Happy Birthday of course!

After dessert, Ethan started getting cranky since it was beyond his bed time so we had to head home.

On Saturday we got up and headed out to go apple picking. I'm doing a full post about our day tomorrow, but here's a couple of my favorite pictures from our day.

We had a wonderful day at the apple farm. On our way home we stopped for lunch at 2 Toots Train Whistle Grill. Ethan loves to go there and watch the trains so we thought it would be the perfect way to cap off our fun family day.

On Sunday we went to breakfast and then grocery shopping for the week. We came home and Ethan went down for a nap and we got to work in the kitchen. We wanted to make good use of the apples we picked so we made a batch of crockpot applesauce and baked apple chips. We also put a pork shoulder in the crockpot to make pulled pork for dinner.

Then it was time for Sunday football! It was really rainy and gross outside so it was the perfect day to cuddle up, watch some football and just hang out with Ethan. We had pulled pork sandwiches for dinner and just relaxed the rest of the night. I hope all of you had a great weekend too!
