Thanksgiving Recap

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our families and I hope all of you did too. I did a pretty rotten job taking pictures of the day this year, but we did get a couple good family shots early in the day so I still consider it a success! We started the day at my Aunt Linda and Uncle Jim's to celebrate with my family and then ended our night at Michael's parents house to celebrate with Michael's family. Ethan was a trooper and took a 30 minute nap in the car in between houses and he was raring to go and play with Jacob and Makayla when we got to Michael's parent's house. Here are a few of the pictures I did take.

So thankful for my boys!

Choo choos always come with us!

Ethan loved Bella, he just kept saying, "dog, dog, dog, dog, dog," all night.

This is the only picture I managed at Michael's parent's house, these super cute and Pinterest worthy turkey treats!

On Friday we headed to my parent's house to set up their Christmas tree which has been a tradition for many years. It was so fun that Ethan and Lily could actually help this year. They had a lot of fun.

Off to Gramma and Papa's!

He likes all things sparkly like his Mommy!

The finished product, so pretty! I love this tree!

After Ethan woke up from his nap we headed home, had some Thanksgiving leftovers for dinner and then Ethan had some train time with Daddy before bed. It was a nice relaxing end to two busy days.

The rest of the weekend we are going to relax and hopefully do a few family activities to kick start our Christmas!

And tomorrow, I am kicking off our 25 days of Christmas for 2013. For the past 4 years, I have blogged every day throughout the month of December as part of our "25 Days of Christmas" series. It is a great way to record how we celebrate Christmas and the entire holiday season. I know that it will be a lot of fun to look back at all of our family Christmas memories throughout the years. We can't wait to share our Christmas happenings with all of you and hope you look forward to following along as we countdown to Christmas! First up tomorrow, our 2013 Christmas tree!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

First I wanted to say sorry for things being so quiet around here the past 2 weeks. I have been too busy soaking up lots of time with my favorite people and enjoying some much needed time off work. We're already decorated for the holidays and have been doing fun craft projects to get us in a holiday mood! My favorite time of year is almost here!

Second, I consider myself very blessed, and not just because it's Thanksgiving. I am most thankful for my amazing husband along with our biggest blessing and miracle, Ethan. They make me feel thankful every day that I have this life to spend with them. We are so very lucky for many reasons.

Here's hoping that your Thanksgiving day be filled with good family, fun times and great food!

And a little reminiscing of our little turkey last year, gobble, gobble!

Fall Craft Friday: Painted Feather Turkey

With Thanksgiving less than two weeks away, I knew we needed to do a turkey craft! Since Ethan loves to paint I thought I would let him paint some white paper and then I would cut them out into feathers to make a turkey with. It worked out great and Ethan loved painting. All you need is a piece of white cardstock, paint, brushes, red, orange and brown cardstock and some pipe cleaners.

After Ethan was done painting I let the cardstock dry. While it was drying I cut out a turkey body, beak and wattle. I also used a pipe cleaner to make some feet.

Once the cardstock was dry I traced out some feather shapes, cut them out and then assembled the turkey.

The finished turkey!

Ethan's World: 18 Months

18 months?!! How did that happen so fast? Time is just whizzing by and every day it seems like you are changing. The biggest change this month has been your vocabulary. You are adding new words every day, it's amazing. You try and repeat so many things that we say. My favorite new word word that you are saying is, "purple." The way you say it is so cute. Speaking of colors, we've been working on identifying colors and you are doing so well. You can pick out blue, green, red and purple so far.

We've done so many fun family things in your 17th month. We visited the pumpkin patch, painted pumpkins, did lots of crafts, played in the leaves and went trick-or-treating. It was so much fun this year to have you participate fully in our activities. You are so excited every time we do something new, it is just so fun to watch your enthusiasm for everything.

Your two current obsessions are Thomas the tank engine and being outside. You are obsessed with everything trains. We took you to a local train show at a library and you loved it. You just loved watching all the trains and kept saying, "choo, choo."

You also love being outside. You don't care what the weather is, when we get home from going somewhere you want to run around for at least a few minutes. You love walking through the leaves, watching birds fly by and seeing airplanes fly overhead. I am so happy you love the outdoors and can't wait to play in the snow with you this Winter!

Other stat updates: Your weight is right at 28 pounds and you are officially 36 inches tall. You've had a growth spurt this month. Even your feet grew. The size 7 shoes we bought you 2 months ago are already tight! You are still in size 4 diapers, size 18 month and 18-24 month clothes. You have 12 teeth, including 4 molars. You have been drooling like crazy, it's just been pouring out of your mouth so I'm guessing there are more on their way. You have been eating more and have been trying more things which we are so happy about. Pasta is still your favorite food and you have never met a cracker you don't like!

Ethan, right now you can be described in three words: SO.MUCH.FUN! You make Daddy and I smile so big and laugh so hard. We love every second we spend with you. We just wish time would slow down a little. We keep looking at you lately and you just look so big. You are definitely not our little baby anymore. We don't know how we got so lucky but you are the sweetest little boy we could have ever imagined.  We can't wait to celebrate the holidays with you and make so many more wonderful memories as a family. Happy 18 months my little man!
