25 Days of Christmas: Day 5 - Christmas Countdowns

We have three traditions when it comes to Christmas countdowns and this year we are adding a fourth! First is our countdown garland on the mantle. I got a new one this year with little stockings that I can put small treats in for Ethan.

Our second countdown is the cotton ball Santa beard countdown. I found a cute printable on Pinterest, got it printed in an 8x10 at Costco and then hung it on the fridge. Each day Ethan will add a cotton ball to fill out Santa's beard by Christmas!

Our third countdown is our 25 books of Christmas countdown. Every day Ethan will get to open a wrapped Christmas book for us to read together. He absolutely loved this last year! I only had to add about 5 new books this year to replace some babyish ones from last year. He gets to choose whatever book he wants to open except for one, which will be The Night Before Christmas for us to read before he goes to bed on Christmas Eve. Ethan got to open his first book this past Monday and he had so much fun he wanted to keep opening presents!

Our new tradition this year is the Hide and Hug Olaf. It's similar to Elf on the Shelf but you are supposed to touch Olaf. Every morning Ethan will have to find Olaf and give him a hug. The set came with a book that explained the game and a cute stuffed Olaf. Ethan was so excited to find Olaf the first day and gave him a big hug!
